How we look after your letter
You trusted butter chicken with something personal. Here is exactly what happens to it, in plain words.
Who we are
Chicken Confidential is a book and events project by Hummus Made, presented with Spice Girl / Chaos Curry Club. When we say "we" or "us" on this page, that is who we mean.
What we collect
Only what you choose to send us through the letter form:
- your letter, your name and your email address
- anything you attach: photos, PDFs and voice notes
- optional extras: what kind of contribution it is, a link, and your vote for the book's title
- your yes to printing it in the book
We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels or analytics. While you write, your draft is saved in your own browser so you don't lose it. It stays on your device and is deleted when you send the letter.
Why we collect it
- to read your letter and consider it for the book, the website and our live events
- to write back to you, ask follow-up questions and agree how you are credited
- to stop spam
We will never sell your details or add you to a mailing list you did not ask for.
Printing your letter
Ticking the box means you are happy for us to use your letter in the book and credit you by name. If we choose your letter, we will email you first to confirm the details. You can change your mind at any point before the book goes to print.
Where it is kept
- Letters and details are stored in our private Notion workspace (Notion Labs, USA).
- Photos, PDFs and voice notes are stored with Vercel (Vercel Inc., USA), on servers in Dubai. Each file gets a long, random web address. We never publish that address unless your letter is featured. But anyone who has the exact address can open the file, so please don't send anything you would hate to see in public.
- This website is hosted by Vercel. Like any web server, it briefly sees your IP address to deliver the page and to block spam. The fonts load from Google Fonts, which also sees your IP address.
Only the Hummus Made team working on this book can open the letters.
How long we keep it
We keep letters while we make the book and the events around it. If you ask us to delete your letter, we delete it and its files.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Email hello@hummusmade.com and we will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Under 18?
Please ask a parent or guardian before you send us anything.
